At age 5, 27% of children are napping one nap/day about 4 days/week. Among those who are napping, 80% nap between 1.5-2.5 hours.
At age 6, 12% of children are napping one nap/day about 3 days/week. Among those who are napping, 90% nap between 1-2 hours.
Napping is less influenced by genetics than parenting practices.

Dr Weissbluth, I’m curious on your thoughts of half-day kindergarten vs full day. Our state is transitioning to full day in the fall and wonder what you think about daytime rest and long days for 5 yr olds. Thanks!

20 mos old twin, just transitioned to one PM nap a month ago but is only sleeping about an hour for his PM nap(going down between 12-1pm) , not seem rested, can barely make it to 530 for bedtime. Any tips?
